Wellness Wednesday: The Final "S" - Success Mindset
The Final "S" - Success Mindset
April 22, 2026
We have reached the final letter of our DESTRESS Protocol!
Before we dive in, a quick note: The other "S" in our protocol stands for Supplements. We’ve covered these in depth before, and they are a vital "Step-by-Step" tool for filling in nutritional gaps and supporting your body’s unique needs. If you need a refresher on why I recommend specific, professional-grade supplements, I invite you to review my blog posts here.
Today, we focus on the mindset that allows all your other healthy choices to stick: The Success Mindset.
It’s Not "Woo-Woo"—It’s Biology
A success mindset isn't just about "thinking happy thoughts." It has a measurable, physical footprint in your body. When we talk about mindset, we are really talking about your nervous system.
- Cortisol (The Stress Messenger): When your mind is stuck in a loop of "I can't do this" or "I’ll never get better," your brain perceives a threat. This keeps your cortisol levels spiked. Chronic high cortisol leads to inflammation, weight gain, and that "tired but wired" feeling.
- Heart Rate Variability (HRV): This is one of the best markers of true health. It measures the variation in time between each heartbeat. A high HRV means your nervous system is flexible and resilient. A "fixed" or negative mindset actually lowers your HRV, making it harder for your body to recover from even minor stressors.
The Conversation Within
The most important conversation you have every day is the one you have with yourself. How is your "self-talk"?
If you don't like where you are, something has to change. But often, we hit mental roadblocks—those deep-seated beliefs that say "I’ve always been this way" or "It’s just my genetics." As we’ve discussed throughout the DESTRESS Protocol, you are not a victim of your genes; you are the architect of your environment.
Changing your life requires changing your choices, and changing your choices requires changing your mind.
Step-by-Step Success
If your mind feels "stuck" in survival mode, your body will follow. We have to support both.
- Foundation First: Ensure your brain has the nutrients it needs to stay calm and focused. Visit my Shop Page for my foundational recommendations.
- Support the Shift: For those moments when the "mental roadblocks" feel heavy, supporting your stress response can give you the mental clarity to push through. Check out the Sleep & Stress Support here.
Next week, we will unpack how to actually identify those roadblocks and the specific "spells" your words are casting on your health.
