Unpacking the DESTRESS Protocol—Starting with 'D' for Diet 🌱

Wellness Wednesday - Unpacking the DESTRESS Protocol—Starting with 'D' for Diet 🌱

Many of you are familiar with my core philosophy for achieving optimal health: the DESTRESS Protocol. This comprehensive, step-by-step approach guides us to the root cause of imbalance:

  • D – Diet
  • E – Exercise
  • S – Stress
  • T – Toxins
  • R – Rest/Sleep
  • E – Emotions
  • S – Supplementation
  • S – Success Mindset

D is for Diet: Fueling the Machine

When I talk about Diet, I’m not talking about the latest fads, trends, or restrictive rules. No wonder people are so confused! My focus is to cut through all that noise and keep it simple: What nutrients are you eating that truly fuel the machine that is your body?

We move past highly processed "packaged things disguised as food" to focus on nutrient-dense, real, whole foods.

The key is personalization. I work with clients to understand HOW their body works, identify foods that trigger inflammatory reactions, and cause sensitivities or dis-ease.

The first step in this journey is always a supported detox. This gentle reset helps to balance the body and mind, detoxify your liver, kidneys, and blood, and—best of all—reset your tastebuds. You'll feel truly amazing!

Ready to move past the confusion and find the fuel that’s right for your body?

Wellness Wednesday: Empty Your Rain Barrel with These Simple Home Swaps 💜🌿 May 27, 2026 With the holiday weekend behind us and summer officially on the horizon, many of us are doing a bit of seasonal cleaning. But while we’re busy scrubbing floors and clearing out closets, there’s an invisible clutter we need to talk about: Environmental Toxins. In the DESTRESS Protocol, T stands for Toxins . I often talk to my clients about the "Rain Barrel Effect." Every day, our bodies absorb toxins from the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the products we use. Eventually, the barrel overflows, showing up as brain fog, skin issues, sluggish metabolism, or hormone disruption. The good news? You have immense control over the environment inside your own walls. Here are 4 simple, high-impact kitchen and home swaps to start emptying your rain barrel today. The Kitchen Upgrades 1. Ditch the Scratched Non-Stick for Cast Iron or Stainless Steel Older non-stick pans coated with PFAS (forever chemicals) can leach toxins into your food, especially when heated or scratched. The Swap: Transition to cast iron, stainless steel, or 100% ceramic cookware. If you love the convenience of non-stick, look for modern, ceramic-based non-toxic brands. 2. Swap Plastics and Tupperware for Glass Even "BPA-free" plastics can leach hormone-disrupting chemicals into your food, particularly when microwaved or washed in hot water. The Swap: As your plastic containers wear out, replace them with glass or stainless steel alternatives. Bonus: They last forever and keep your food tasting fresher! The Living Space Upgrades 3. Swap Synthetic Fragrances for Clean Air Plug-in air fresheners, aerosol sprays, and conventional paraffin candles are often packed with phthalates—chemicals used to make scents last longer that can wreak havoc on your thyroid and hormones. The Swap: Switch to a high-quality essential oil diffuser or 100% beeswax/soy candles scented only with pure essential oils. Better yet, let the sunshine in and open those windows! 4. Upgrade Your Dish & Laundry Soap Your skin is your largest organ; whatever touches it absorbs into your bloodstream. Conventional laundry detergents and dish soaps often contain synthetic dyes and heavy fragrances. The Swap: Look for "unscented" or plant-based formulations. A great rule of thumb is to check your brands on the Environmental Working Group (EWG) app to see how they score. Support Your Body's Natural Detox While you work on lowering the toxins coming into your home, you can support your body's internal plumbing to flush out what's already there. Daily Liver Support: Your liver works 24/7 to empty toxins from your body. To give it the foundational nutrients it needs to process daily toxic loads, check out my curated recommendations on my Wellness Shop Page . Lower the Internal Stress: Physical toxins trigger an emotional stress response in the body (and vice versa). Keep your nervous system calm and resilient with the Sleep & Stress Support formula . Remember, you don't have to change everything overnight. Just pick one swap this week. Every small change drills a little hole in the bottom of that rain barrel! 👉 Want to identify the hidden toxins holding your health back? Book your FREE consultation here . Hugs and Health, Lisa

Mindset Roadblocks & The Cortisol Shift 💜🌿 April 29, 2026 Last week, we introduced the final letter of our DESTRESS Protocol: Success Mindset. We looked at how your thoughts aren't just "in your head"—they have a physical footprint in your cortisol levels and heart rate variability. Today, we are talking about the "Invisible Walls" that keep us stuck: Mental Roadblocks. Identifying Your Roadblocks A mental roadblock is an internalized "no." It’s that voice that whispers, "That works for other people, but not for me," or "I’ve always been this way." These aren't facts; they are habits of thought. Common roadblocks include: The "All-or-Nothing" Trap: "If I can't do the full workout/diet perfectly, why bother?" The "Identity" Anchor: "I’m just a high-stress person; it’s in my DNA." The "Future-Fear": "What if I do all this work and I still don't feel better?" Awareness is your "Quantum Leap." Once you see these for what they are—just thoughts—they lose their power to dictate your physical health. The Power of Positive Self-Talk Remember that Bruce Lee quote I shared recently? Your body doesn't know the difference between a joke and a decree. When you tell yourself, "I’m so tired," or "My body is failing me," your brain sends signals to your nervous system to stay in a state of defense. The Shift: Try catching yourself in a negative loop and swapping "I am" for "I am learning." Instead of: "I'm so unhealthy." Try: "I am learning how to support my body one step at a time." Daily Habits to Shift Your Cortisol You can actually "physically" nudge your mindset by lowering your cortisol through simple daily habits: The Morning Light: 10 minutes of natural light in the morning helps regulate your cortisol rhythm. The "Stop-and-Sigh": Throughout the day, take a deep breath and let out a long, audible sigh. This signals to your vagus nerve that you are safe. Language Check: Before bed, name three things you did well for your health that day, no matter how small. Success Mindset Essentials Shifting your mindset is hard work when your body is running on "empty." We have to support the biology to free up the psychology. Lower the Noise: If your mind is racing, your body likely needs calming support. My top recommendation for balancing that "wired" feeling is the Sleep & Stress Support formula . Your Daily Toolkit: Find the professional-grade supplements that support a resilient nervous system on my Shop Page . Next week , we are going to get even more personal. I’ll be sharing specific journaling prompts to help you dig deep and uncover the specific roadblocks that might be standing in your way. 👉 Ready to break through the walls? Wellness Wednesday: Energy, Mind, and Your Physiology 💜🌿 Part 5 March 25, 2026 Last week, we walked through some thought-provoking questions about body image, self-talk, and your belief in your own healing. I’m sure those gave you a moment of pause! Quick Review: Do you believe you can improve your health? What is your current body image, and do you believe you can change it? Is your self-talk positive and building you up, or is it negative? While these are vital questions, what matters even more is how you felt while answering them. Did your energy dip, or did you feel a spark of empowerment? Because your mind and body are so intimately connected, your psychology affects your physiology. When you change your mind, you truly begin to change your life. If you feel like you’ve "tried it all" or that "poor genetics" have left you stuck, I want you to know how amazing you truly are. You are not a victim of your biology—you are the architect of it. Support Your Physiological Shift Shifting your mindset is easier when your nervous system isn't in a state of "dis-ease." Calm the Internal Noise: To help lower the "static" of stress while you do this mental work, I highly recommend the Sleep & Stress Support formula .
