Have you ever wondered why some vitamins need to be taken with food, while others don't? Today, let's talk about the key difference between fat-soluble and water-soluble vitamins, and why understanding this is so important for your health.

Vitamins, which are essential for your growth and nutrition, fall into two main categories:

Fat-Soluble Vitamins

These vitamins—A, D, E, and K—are stored in your body, sometimes for long periods. Because of this, they should always be taken with food to ensure proper absorption. While they're crucial for your health, taking too much can lead to toxicity, so it's important to be mindful of your intake.

Water-Soluble Vitamins

These vitamins, which include your B-complex and Vitamin C, are not stored in the body. Instead, they are flushed out through urination on the same day you ingest them. This is why it's often a good idea to take water-soluble vitamins twice a day to get the maximum benefit, as your body uses them quickly.

A Wiser Approach to Supplements

When it comes to your health, quality matters. The effectiveness of any supplement depends on its form, purity, and bioavailability—which is your body's ability to actually use it. We'll dive into this more in future newsletters.

In the meantime, you can explore the high-quality, science-backed supplements I personally recommend. I’ve carefully vetted these products to ensure they meet the highest standards, so you can be confident that you’re getting the most from every dose.

July 15, 2026 We’re in the heat of summer, and you’ve likely heard the advice: "Drink more water." It feels simple, almost too simple. But I want to challenge you to think about hydration differently. It’s not just about quenching a dry throat; it’s about the electrical health of your entire system. The Cellular Reality When you are dehydrated, you aren’t just "thirsty." You are essentially running your body’s machinery on "low power mode." Every cell in your body needs water to produce energy (ATP), transport nutrients, and flush out metabolic waste. When your hydration levels drop, your cells struggle to perform these basic tasks. This is often where "hidden" symptoms show up—brain fog, afternoon slumps, stubborn headaches, or that feeling of being "stuck" even when you’re doing everything else right. Why "Just Thirsty" is Too Late The biggest myth about hydration is that we should wait until we feel thirsty to drink. By the time your brain sends you a thirst signal, your body is already functioning at a deficit. Your focus, your mood, and your metabolic rate have likely already taken a hit. The "Step-by-Step" Action How do you know if you're truly hydrated? Look for these three signs of a "High-Energy" state: Consistent Energy: No "mid-day wall" that forces you to reach for caffeine. Mental Clarity: That sharp, focused feeling without the "brain fog" haze. Physical Resilience: Your muscles feel pliable and ready, not stiff or tight. This week’s challenge: Don’t wait for the thirst signal. Start your day with 16 ounces of water before you have your first cup of coffee. Treat your first glass of the day as the "priming" of your engine. Need a Personalized Roadmap? Hydration is just one piece of your metabolic puzzle. If you want to see how your current habits are supporting your health goals, reach out to me for a FREE consultation . Support Your Cells: If you find you’re drinking water but still feeling "drained," it’s often about electrolytes, not just volume. Check out my recommended hydration tools here to ensure your body is actually absorbing the water you drink. Next week, we’re going to talk about why water alone sometimes isn't enough—and why electrolytes are the "hidden key" to feeling truly hydrated. 👉 Ready to take a look at your Metabolic Health? July 9, 2026 Over the last few weeks, we’ve covered the "bricks and mortar" of your health—the lab markers, the thyroid engine, and the kitchen as your pharmacy. But today, I want to talk about the "energy" you bring to your healing journey: Your Mindset. I often hear clients say, "Lisa, I’m doing everything right—I’m eating clean and taking my supplements—but I still feel stuck." My answer is almost always the same: You cannot heal in the same state of stress that made you sick. The Physiology of "Attraction" When we talk about "attracting" better health, it isn't just a metaphor—it is biology. The Stress State: When your mind is in a constant loop of worry, anxiety, or "fight or flight," your body stays in a state of preservation. It holds onto weight, slows down your digestion, and suppresses your immune system. The Growth State: When you consciously shift your mindset toward gratitude, calm, and intention, you lower your cortisol and calm systemic inflammation. You are quite literally creating the internal "soil" where health can finally take root and grow. Your mindset acts like a magnet. If you approach your health journey with frustration, you often find more things to be frustrated about. But if you approach it with curiosity, self-compassion, and the belief that your body wants to heal, you start to attract the results you’ve been working toward. The "Mindset Magnet" Challenge How do you shift from "Stress State" to "Growth State"? It starts with a simple Mindset Anchor : The Morning Minute: Before you grab your phone or rush into your day, take 60 seconds to visualize one thing you are grateful for and one way you want to "show up" for your body today. The "Pivot" Phrase: When you feel the stress rising, catch it. Instead of saying "I have to do this," try saying "I get to nourish my body today." This tiny shift changes your body's physiological response from resistance to receptivity. The "Step-by-Step" Action Your health journey is a partnership between your physical habits and your emotional state. They are two sides of the same coin. Audit Your Emotional Environment: What is the "narrative" you tell yourself about your health? If it’s not supporting you, let’s rewrite it together. Reach out to me for a FREE consultation , and let’s talk about how we can align your mindset with your goals. Foundational Support: Sometimes, our nervous system needs a little extra support to find that calm. June 24, 2026 Over the last few weeks, we’ve taken a deep dive into the "what" and "why" of your health—from your metabolic bedrock to your thyroid engine and longevity shields. Now, the most common question I get is: "Lisa, this all sounds great, but how do I actually make this work in my busy life?" The answer is Habit Stacking . We often try to overhaul our lives overnight, only to burn out within a week. Instead, I teach my clients to "stack" tiny, science-backed habits onto routines they already have. You don’t need to find more time; you will just want to anchor those healthy choices to your current day. How to Build Your "Habit Stacking Roadmap" Think of your day as a series of triggers. By attaching a new healthy habit to an existing trigger, you remove the "willpower" hurdle entirely. The "Morning Anchor": If your existing habit is making coffee, your "stack" could be drinking a large glass of water with electrolytes before you even touch your mug. The "Work-Transition Stack": If your existing habit is closing your laptop at the end of the day, your "stack" could be a 5-minute gratitude reflection or a brief breathing exercise to signal to your nervous system that the "work stress" is over. The "Evening Reset": If your existing habit is brushing your teeth, your "stack" could be prepping your supplements for the next morning. Why This Works With Your Labs Consistency is the only way to shift those lab markers we’ve been discussing. You can’t "optimize" your Hemoglobin A1c or your Thyroid in a single day—it happens through the hundreds of tiny, consistent choices you make over months. Habit Stacking ensures that your health becomes an automatic part of your day, not a "to-do" list item you dread. The "Step-by-Step" Action Audit Your Day: What is one tiny habit you already do every single day without thinking? Stack Your First Win: What is one small step you can "stack" onto that habit to support your metabolic health? (e.g., adding a serving of healthy fats to your breakfast, or taking a 10-minute walk after lunch). Need Help Building Your Roadmap? If you’re ready to stop guessing and start building, reach out to me for a FREE consultation . We can look at your specific health and wellness goals and build your unique Habit Stacking Roadmap together. 👉 Ready to make your health automatic? Book your FREE consultation here . Wellness Wednesday: Empty Your Rain Barrel with These Simple Home Swaps 💜🌿 May 27, 2026 With the holiday weekend behind us and summer officially on the horizon, many of us are doing a bit of seasonal cleaning. But while we’re busy scrubbing floors and clearing out closets, there’s an invisible clutter we need to talk about: Environmental Toxins. In the DESTRESS Protocol, T stands for Toxins . I often talk to my clients about the "Rain Barrel Effect." Every day, our bodies absorb toxins from the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the products we use. Eventually, the barrel overflows, showing up as brain fog, skin issues, sluggish metabolism, or hormone disruption. The good news? You have immense control over the environment inside your own walls. Here are 4 simple, high-impact kitchen and home swaps to start emptying your rain barrel today. The Kitchen Upgrades 1. Ditch the Scratched Non-Stick for Cast Iron or Stainless Steel Older non-stick pans coated with PFAS (forever chemicals) can leach toxins into your food, especially when heated or scratched. The Swap: Transition to cast iron, stainless steel, or 100% ceramic cookware. If you love the convenience of non-stick, look for modern, ceramic-based non-toxic brands. 2. Swap Plastics and Tupperware for Glass Even "BPA-free" plastics can leach hormone-disrupting chemicals into your food, particularly when microwaved or washed in hot water. The Swap: As your plastic containers wear out, replace them with glass or stainless steel alternatives. Bonus: They last forever and keep your food tasting fresher! The Living Space Upgrades 3. Swap Synthetic Fragrances for Clean Air Plug-in air fresheners, aerosol sprays, and conventional paraffin candles are often packed with phthalates—chemicals used to make scents last longer that can wreak havoc on your thyroid and hormones. The Swap: Switch to a high-quality essential oil diffuser or 100% beeswax/soy candles scented only with pure essential oils. Better yet, let the sunshine in and open those windows! 4. Upgrade Your Dish & Laundry Soap Your skin is your largest organ; whatever touches it absorbs into your bloodstream. Conventional laundry detergents and dish soaps often contain synthetic dyes and heavy fragrances. The Swap: Look for "unscented" or plant-based formulations. A great rule of thumb is to check your brands on the Environmental Working Group (EWG) app to see how they score. Support Your Body's Natural Detox While you work on lowering the toxins coming into your home, you can support your body's internal plumbing to flush out what's already there. Daily Liver Support: Your liver works 24/7 to empty toxins from your body. To give it the foundational nutrients it needs to process daily toxic loads, check out my curated recommendations on my Wellness Shop Page . Lower the Internal Stress: Physical toxins trigger an emotional stress response in the body (and vice versa). Keep your nervous system calm and resilient with the Sleep & Stress Support formula . Remember, you don't have to change everything overnight. Just pick one swap this week. Every small change drills a little hole in the bottom of that rain barrel! 👉 Want to identify the hidden toxins holding your health back? Book your FREE consultation here . Hugs and Health, Lisa
